{Curtis Key}

Engineer / Producer / Composer
President

Grammy

“I remember sitting in my room one day thinking… What would happen if I put all of this music together?”  It all started with a $25 four track tape recorder from a local pawn shop.  Because Curtis plays multiple instruments, initially, he bought this recorder simply to study the music he was writing.

“ For me, it’s always about feel.”  Curtis has studied under several seasoned recording engineers with serious experience and credits.  At age 17, Curtis was awarded a full scholarship by Old Dominion University to study Music Production and Music Composition.  Directly from ODU, Curtis was offered a full time position with a local recording studio/post-production facility in Chesapeake, VA.  There he served as a production manager for over two years.

From his high school auditorium to his performances in Carnegie Hall, Curtis exhibits strong musicianship both in his performance and his production techniques.  He exhibits leadership in session as well as in the classroom.

Because of his numerous national releases and success in the music industry, Curtis was invited and accepted a full voting membership with The Recording Academy (GRAMMYs) in 2009.

Having led a variety of artists of diverse genre, Curtis says, “At the end of the day, it’s all about relationships and taking care of people.”

Reviews:

" I have been on many sessions at various studios and have enjoyed each experience in my career, but working with Curtis (Key) was a pleasure in many senses. He gets accurate sounds from my bass as well as the other instruments and knows how to make the tracks come to life.......a true engineer among engineers and a great all around guy!

" Curtis Key is a phenomenally talented musician and recording engineer.  Working with him and his staff was a pleasure and a terrific experience since this was my first time professionally recording a CD! Curtis threw 110% personal effort into this project and I got a terrific product that was very reasonably priced resulting in a CD that I'm extremely proud of.

Thanks Curtis!"
